Hi, my name is Lily and I have been offered to do something truly amazing!

I have a chance to take part in an charitable conservation expedition to Borneo in July 2025 for 4 weeks.

I will be working on a range of projects each designed to make a significant and lasting impact on Borneo’s most critical issues.

Taking on Community project work

I will be living and working alongside the locals to help develop the community. This will include long term conservation projects, such as:
  • building and improving sanitation, and school facilities,
  • constructing a recycling centre
  • installing freshwater storage systems.

I will be learning some skills along the way such as construction, painting, plastering and brick laying. Plus working in the classrooms, teaching the young children and also learning about their local cultures.

Environmental project work

I will be involved in activities to tackle deforestation in Borneo, spending a few days at Camp Internationals Environmental camp planting trees to help reforest the area.

Next stop will be the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre to see these amazing creatures in their natural habitat and then onto the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre. I will learn about the conservation work happening here to protect these endangered species. This is a huge problem in Borneo, only half of its forest cover remains today.

As well as taking part in these amazing opportunities, I will also learn how to scuba dive and obtain a PADI qualification, this we help me understand the importance of the protecting marine life.
As part of our stay, to experience true off grid living we will be trekking for 5 days through Bornean jungle and sleeping in hammocks, certainly an experience I will never forget!

The organisation I will be travelling with (Camps International) has been running for over ten years, and they have helped start different projects in different countries around the globe, their projects are designed to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

I would love to be part of this trip, but part of the process is to fundraise and find sponsorships to help fund the cost, which is a total of £4980.

This GoFundMe page is my starting point. Over the coming year I plan to arrange many fundraising events and contact local and national businesses regarding sponsorship.
This is a chance to do something truly amazing and it will expose me to totally new places and situations. I will grow in confidence and develop skills such as leadership and teamwork.

Overall, I think this trip will make a massive change on not only my life, but the life of the locals and endangered animals in Borneo, so I would massively appreciate any donations towards this trip as it is going to an amazing cause! This expedition will be once-in-a-lifetime experience.
However, most importantly, I hope to make a difference, no matter how small, in the lives of other people and communities and with your help, hopefully I can achieve this.

In the April this year, I plan to partake in a 10K obstacle run to help raise funds; I will also be taking on any odd jobs, such as car washing and helping my dad with gardening work.

Any money donated is a great start and would be very much appreciated.

Thank you

Lily x
